Camping in Australia

So why is Australian camping so special and unique?

Well, camping Down Under is more than just setting up a tent amidst the wilderness.

For so many of us it is an immersive experience that nourishes the soul and connects you with the untouched beauty of nature.

Imagine waking up to the symphony of native birdsong in Angourie, waking up to the crisp morning air of Margaret River, and witnessing breathtaking sunrises of the Grampions that paint the sky in hues of gold and pink. This is the essence of camping in Australia.

Our lucky country boasts diverse landscapes that range from lush rainforests and coastal cliffs to expansive deserts and rugged mountains. Camping here means that you have access to all manner of breathtaking landscapes in one country.

But why camp at all? Isn't it easier to just stay in a hotel?

Things to do in Australia

Well not exactly. Those of us who love the outdoors know that camping provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in Australia's rich culture in its purest form. Many camping areas are situated near ancient Aboriginal sites, offering a chance to learn about the land's history and traditions. One never feels as close to the land as when one is sleeping on it.

From hiking and fishing to stargazing and kayaking, the activities available are as varied as the landscapes. There's something for everyone, making it an ideal vacation for families, couples, and solo adventurers.

Family bonding and quality time.

Camping is the perfect setting to foster family bonds and create lasting memories. As someone who's parents took me camping when I was young I count the memories I made while we spent time making the campfire, sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and falling asleep in the open air as some of the most precious I have.

Not only is camping an excellent way to disconnect and rejuvenate, but it also offers a range of health benefits.

Where to camp in Australia

Surrounded by nature's tranquility, campers experience a significant reduction in stress levels and anxiety. The calmness of the outdoors has a therapeutic effect, promoting relaxation and mental well-being.

Camping also often involves outdoor activities, encouraging physical movement and exercise. Whether it's hiking, swimming, or simply setting up camp, the great outdoors beckon you to stay active.

What's more, the natural light, the sounds of nature and the gradual dimming of day into night can significantly improve sleep quality.

The fresh air and comfortable sleeping arrangements in a tent can lead to more restful nights.

Exposure to sunlight during camping allows your body to produce Vitamin D, which boosts the immune system. The sun-kissed outdoors enhance your overall health and well-being.
